AMBER MARIE
Decreasing shame of mental health by one book at a time
WHY DIVERSITY MATTER?
Mirrors and Windows
Picture books allow “children to identify with someone like themselves and validating their sense of belonging and their experiences.” “Books also serve as a window to the world, exposing children to cultural groups different from their own, helping them connect with and understand others.” -Sharon Davis
ABOUT AMBER MARIE
Amber Marie Martin is a Licensed Professional Counselor serving the children of Mississippi. After falling in love with children's books, Amber decided to write one to explain her chronic illness, lupus, for her future children. That one idea of a book has led to a book series and a coloring book filled with positive affirmations. Amber’s books address mental health in a way children can relate and normalize issues concerning mental health. She hopes her books decrease the stigma and shame associated with mental health so others are more comfortable seeking help.
